Victor "Coach" Hicks is the visionary founder and CEO of Coding with Culture, a pioneering program dedicated to integrating computer science and STEM education with culturally responsive teaching methods. With a mission to create a seamless "Kindergarten through HBCU" pathway in computational and design thinking, Coach Hicks is committed to empowering the next generation of Black innovators.



Coach Hicks's educational journey at two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) profoundly shaped his commitment to Black success. He began his academic career at Fisk University and later continued his studies at Clark Atlanta University, experiences that highlighted the crucial role HBCUs play in developing Black leaders across various fields.



As a CSTA Equity Fellow and recipient of the CSTA Excellence in Teaching CS Award, Coach Hicks brings a wealth of expertise and recognition to his work. He is also a featured voice at ISTE 2024 and contributes to the Georgia Department of Education's computer science projects by writing curriculum, ensuring that education standards meet the needs of diverse learners.



Under Coach Hicks's leadership, Coding with Culture offers three main services: small group learning in computer science and STEM for ages 8+, professional development for teachers, and partnerships with schools and youth groups for specialized computer science camps, classes, and workshops. His dedication to supporting HBCUs and advocating for culturally relevant pedagogy makes Coding with Culture a unique and impactful initiative.
